They had an adjoining Chinese restaurant if I recall.

In a weird coincidence, so did the bowling alley where the family ate Christmas dinner in "A Christmas Story" after they burned their turkey. The weirdness came from the fact that the bowling sign in the movie had a burned-out W, rendering "BO LING".

Is that true? I mean, the part about their being an adjoining Chinese restaurant. Was it actually attached to the building or just near by?

The Bo Lins bit was good.

I was thinking of the bowling alley by Ward Parkway shopping center, not the bowling alley on Wornall (near 83rd). All apologies.

Ahh. That place is still thriving. If you can endure the second hand smoke, you should have a look at the interior sometime. Still plenty of turquoise and chrome - the uniform colors of the gods.
