I spent the afternoon with Nate Brancato today reminicing about Fairyland Park. Nate's grandfather Sam Brancato opened the in 1923 and Nate closed it in 1977. Nate shared his wonderful collection of photos and memories - which I scanned and recorded respectively. There are some great shots of the Wildcat, the Crystal Pool and other park scenes. Also a few pictures of Fairyland Drive-In!

Mr. Brancato and his family now manage Brancato's Catering. This company, occupying several large buildings in Grandview, was born when Fairyland moved their catering for their famous picnics in-house. You can visit them on the web at:

I've since received a dozen or so amazing photos of Fairland Park courtesy of the Raymond Crawford family. I hope you enjoy these rare views of the park in it's prime.

My parents told me that Glenn Miller played at Fairyland. Do you know if this is true?

He did. So did Count Basie. I think that the Pla-Mor also hosted many popular big bands.

More Fairyland Park stuff posted, including:

tickets
application for employment at the park
flyer
season gate pass
stacks of unused tickets from various years
some more Plumbers Local #8 rainchecks - not sure why there are so many of these floation around
