The Smokin' Emeralds in 1967, taken at the Place in Westport. We played there 6 days a week, 3 sets a night. A 14 piece review, this horn band featured a 3 or 4 piece horn section, two drummers, and a wonderful black singing and dancing group known as the Sinceres, later known nationally as Bloodstone. Drummer Glenn Walters (right) was also in the Mystic Number National Bank and later found commercial success in California with the Hoodo Rhythm Devils. Melvin Webb found success in Hollywood working with Bloodstone, James Brown and other acts.
Stephen Barncard (bass), Rick ??? guitar, ?? (bone), ?? (tenor), Tony Swisher (trumpet), Jeff Gholson (hammond organ and trumpet)
Front: Melvin Webb, Glenn Walters
